Lamps in nail salons recognizedharmless

It is well known that the risk of developing skin cancer is associated with
exposure to ultraviolet radiation, however, until recently
time it was unclear whether this has something to do with UV lamps,
used in nail salons. A new study claims
that these lamps do not carry such a danger.

In the course of the study, scientists examined three widely used
UV lamps for drying manicure. They measured radiation with
point of view of its possible carcinogenic effects and calculated
“UV doses” that the user will receive within 10 minutes
Session drying nails.

Not all UV lamps are the same. For example, there are lamps
with which psoriasis is treated, and studies have shown that
narrowband UVB treatment only slightly increases the chance
ill with skin cancer compared with more
harmful rays tanning bed. As for the lamps for drying nails, new
research has shown that 13000-40000 drying sessions will be needed
nails so that the person gets the same dose of UV that gets
a patient with psoriasis during treatment with ultraviolet light. And this
equivalent to the fact that once a week you will be doing a manicure on
over 250 years.

These findings mean that the use of such UV lamps “does not give
clinically significant increased cancer risk “, as they say
the researchers.

Scientists have considered this issue before. So, in 2009
The researchers concluded that UV lamps for
manicure was a risk factor for two women who
The back of the hand has developed skin cancer, known as
squamous cell carcinoma. However, as noted by the authors of the new
studies in 2009 scientists did not measure ultraviolet
radiation of lamps.

”Dermatologists and primary care physicians can convince
patients in the relative safety of these devices, “- write
researchers in their article appeared in the journal Investigative
Dermatology.
